Terms of use
The agreement between you and us. Short version first, because you should be able to know what you are agreeing to in under a minute.
Last updated: 13 August 2026The short version
- The Parent Room is free to join. Anyone in the UK can use it, whether or not you have ever had a scan with us.
- Everything we write is general information, carefully reviewed, and it is not medical advice. Your midwife and your GP come first, always.
- Your account is yours. Keep your password to yourself.
- Hearts are a bit of encouragement. They are not money and never will be.
- Your scan images and your photographs remain yours. We do not claim them.
- You can leave whenever you like, from inside the app, without asking us.
- Parent Room Plus cannot currently be bought. Read section 5 before you assume otherwise.
1. About these terms
These terms govern your use of The Parent Room, available as a mobile app and at theparentroom.co.uk (the "service"). The service is operated by WTTW Retail Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company in the Window to the Womb group.
By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it. Read them alongside our privacy policy, which explains what we do with your data.
| Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Operator | WTTW Retail Ltd |
| Registered address | Victoria Works, Woodhead Road, Holmfirth, England, HD9 2PR |
| Company number | 13438144 |
| Contact | [email protected] |
2. Joining, and your account
Who can join
Anyone in the United Kingdom can join The Parent Room, free. You do not need to have booked a scan with Window to the Womb or firstScan. If you give us your date of birth and it matches a confirmed booking, your scans and appointments appear in your account automatically. If it does not match, nothing happens and you keep your account exactly as it is.
[NEEDS DAN: state the minimum age to register. The legacy web terms said sixteen. The app does not enforce an age today. This needs a number here and, if it is to mean anything, a check at registration.]
Your account
Give us accurate details, keep your password to yourself, and tell us at [email protected] if you think somebody else has got into your account. You are responsible for what happens under it.
Members of your family circle have their own accounts. Nobody should ever be signing in as you.
We may refuse or suspend an account where we reasonably believe the details given are false.
Verifying your email
You need to confirm your email address before your account becomes active. In the app that is a six-digit code, which expires after fifteen minutes. On the web it is a link. If it does not arrive, check your spam folder and then get in touch.
3. What the service is
The Parent Room is a companion for pregnancy and early parenthood. Depending on where you are in your journey, it includes:
- Content matched to your week, or to your child's age
- Your Window to the Womb scan images, clips and appointments, where you have connected them
- Tools such as the kick counter, the contraction timer, name lists and appointment reminders
- A place to keep memories, photographs, letters and documents
- A family circle you control
- Hearts, levels and gentle milestones
- Offers from partner brands, which you choose one at a time
- Weekly pregnancy emails matched to your stage, which you can switch off at any time
Availability
We aim to keep the service up, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted. We may take it down for maintenance, and we will give notice where we reasonably can.
What this is not
Our content is general information. It is reviewed by qualified people, and it is still not medical advice. See section 13.
4. Free membership
Joining is free, and the great majority of the service is free. Window to the Womb and firstScan customers get more, including scan booking, their scan gallery, appointment reminders and clinic perks, at no cost.
We may change what is included in the free membership. If we take away something that materially reduces its value, we will give reasonable notice.
5. Parent Room Plus
Parent Room Plus is an optional upgrade. It unlocks browsing past weeks, the full scan media archive, expanded content and the full offer library, without advertising.
You cannot buy Plus at the moment, and we are not going to pretend otherwise
The card payment route is not open to members. It is switched on only for a small number of internal test accounts, and it runs against test keys, so no member payment can be taken and none has been.
The route to Plus that is open is the partner offer route, described below. It costs nothing.
How to get Plus today
- Claim a partner offer. Choose an offer, agree to share the named fields with that named brand, and Plus activates immediately. There is no payment. You can withdraw your consent to the sharing afterwards from Privacy and permissions, and it does not take Plus away from you.
- Reach the top level. Plus is granted automatically when you reach the highest level in the hearts programme.
Paying for Plus, when it opens
We intend to offer a one-off payment as a third route. When it opens, it will be a single charge rather than a subscription, the price will be shown before you confirm, it will fall as your level rises, and it will be handled by Stripe so that we never hold your card details. Until you see a price and a confirm button in your own account, that route is not available to you.
If and when you do pay, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you fourteen days to change your mind and get a full refund. Email us and we will process it. If you got Plus through a partner offer or a level reward there is nothing to refund, because you paid nothing.
[NEEDS DAN: commercial decision needed. Confirm whether Plus should be described as free-by-partner-offer only for the beta, whether the one-off payment is still the plan, whether the level-adjusted price ladder from 4.99 down to free still stands, and whether Apple's in-app purchase rules apply to it. Apple normally requires digital unlocks inside an iOS app to go through in-app purchase rather than Stripe, so this needs settling before the paid route opens.]
Changes to Plus
We may change what Plus includes. If a change materially reduces something you paid for, we will tell you and offer a fair remedy, which may be a partial refund.
6. Hearts, levels and rewards
You collect Hearts by using the app: opening it, reading your week, saving a scan, inviting your family, playing a game. Hearts build up over the life of your account and move you through levels.
Hearts are not money
They cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred to anyone else, sold, or used anywhere outside The Parent Room. They are encouragement, and nothing more.
You cannot buy Hearts either. There is no way to pay for them, to top them up, or to be given them by another member: earning them by using the app is the only way to get them, and we do not sell them to anyone. If we ever decide to change that, we will tell you before we do.
| Level | Name | Hearts |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | New Bump | 0 |
| 2 | Little Kicks | 75 |
| 3 | Growing Strong | 200 |
| 4 | Blooming | 400 |
| 5 | Nesting | 750 |
| 6 | Bonding | 1,250 |
| 7 | Flourishing | 2,000 |
| 8 | Radiant | 3,000 |
| 9 | Ready | 4,500 |
| 10 | Parent Room VIP | 6,500 |
Reaching a level may unlock features or offers, including Parent Room Plus at the top level.
Fair use
The programme is for genuine use. We may adjust or remove Hearts earned by automated or artificial activity, change what an action is worth or what a level requires, suspend a balance where we have evidence of manipulation, or discontinue the programme altogether on at least thirty days' notice. If we do anything that affects your Hearts we will tell you why, and you can dispute it.
Members of your family circle earn their own Hearts. Hearts are not shared or transferred between accounts.
7. Offers and partner brands
We sometimes feature an offer from another company. Claiming one is entirely your choice, and it requires a separate consent naming that brand and listing exactly which of your details will be shared. Nothing is shared with any brand just because you are a member.
We act as an introducer. Once you claim, the offer is between you and that company, and we do not guarantee its quality, suitability or availability. If something goes wrong, speak to them first. If you get nowhere, tell us and we will do what we reasonably can to help.
Offers can be limited, can expire and can have conditions. We may add, change or remove them. Where an offer you have already claimed is affected we will make reasonable efforts to honour it or find you an alternative.
Sponsored articles are labelled. See our privacy policy for why an advertiser never learns who read one.
8. Who owns what
Our content
The text, articles, artwork, design, layout, software and code in the service belong to WTTW Retail Ltd or to the people who licensed them to us. "The Parent Room", "Window to the Womb", "firstScan" and "Bumpies" are trade marks of their owners in the WTTW group. Please do not copy, republish or build derivative works from any of it without asking us first.
Your content
The photographs, notes, letters, names and memories you add are yours. You keep them. You give us only the permission we need to store them and show them back to you and to the people in your family circle you have chosen. We do not use them for marketing, we do not sell them, and we do not use them to train anything.
Your scan media
Your ultrasound images and clips remain the property of Window to the Womb (Franchise) Ltd, and are shown in your account under the arrangement described in section 10 of our privacy policy. We claim no ownership of them.
9. Your family circle
You can invite a partner, family member or friend into your journey. They register their own account. You decide what each of them can see, area by area, and you can change it or remove them at any time. Some things are never shared with anyone, including anything you record about trying to conceive.
Everyone in the circle has to follow these terms in their own right, and is responsible for their own conduct.
10. Using the service properly
Please do not:
- Use the service unlawfully, or in breach of any regulation
- Try to get into any part of the service, anyone else's account, or our systems, without permission
- Use scripts, bots or tools to scrape content or inflate Hearts
- Pretend to be someone else
- Share your password, or let anyone else use your account
- Interfere with how the service runs, or with its security
- Upload anything harmful, offensive, defamatory, or that infringes somebody else's rights
- Upload a photograph of another person's child without their parent's agreement
If you breach these rules we may suspend or close your account, after giving you a chance to put it right where that is reasonable.
11. Ending your membership
By you
You can leave at any time, from Privacy and permissions inside the app. You do not need to email anyone. When you do:
- Your health data consent is withdrawn immediately
- Your journey closes and your family circle stops seeing it
- You are signed out on every device
- An erasure request goes to our team, which we action within one month
- Your Hearts and level are lost and cannot be restored
By us
We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms and do not put it right, if we reasonably believe it is being used fraudulently or dangerously, or if the law requires it. We will tell you why, unless we are prevented from doing so.
Afterwards
Your rights under these terms end. The sections that are meant to survive do survive, including sections 8, 12, 13 and 14. What happens to your data is set out in our privacy policy.
12. Our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- The service is provided as it is and as it is available. We make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or fit for any particular purpose.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of the service, or from being unable to use it.
- Our total liability for any claim connected with these terms will not exceed whichever is greater of the amount you have paid us in the previous twelve months, or fifty pounds.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under English law. Nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
We are not responsible for the content, products or services of partner brands or of any other site we link to. Those dealings are between you and them.
13. Health information
This is the most important paragraph on the page
Everything The Parent Room tells you about pregnancy, your baby and your body is general information. It is not a diagnosis, not a treatment plan, and not a substitute for your midwife, your GP, your obstetrician or your health visitor. Window to the Womb and firstScan provide private ultrasound scans, which sit alongside your NHS antenatal care and never replace it.
If anything worries you about your pregnancy or your health, speak to your healthcare provider straight away. In an emergency, call 999 or go to your nearest accident and emergency department.
We accept no liability for any decision made on the basis of the general content in the service.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. That does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer, including any right to bring proceedings where you live.
Please talk to us first if something has gone wrong. We would much rather sort it out than argue about it.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do we will change the date at the top, and for a material change we will tell you by email or in the app at least fourteen days beforehand. Carrying on using the service after that means you accept the change. If you would rather not, you can close your account.
16. General
These terms and our privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and WTTW Retail Ltd about the service. If a court finds any part unenforceable, that part is removed and the rest stands. If we do not enforce something, that does not mean we have given it up. We may transfer our rights and obligations to another company in the group, and we will tell you if we do; you may not transfer yours without asking us. Nobody outside this agreement gets rights under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
