A fetal wellbeing scan is for parents who'd simply like reassurance that everything is progressing well. It's available from around 15 weeks.
It isn't the same as the detailed NHS anomaly scan, but it does give a helpful overview of your baby's wellbeing between appointments.
๐What it checks
- Confirmation of a single or multiple pregnancy
- Your baby's heartbeat
- A look at the brain and abdominal contents
- The position of the placenta
๐What to expect
The scan is done over your tummy and takes around 15โ20 minutes, with a report to take home on the day.
๐ฌQuestions worth asking
- Is my baby's growth and wellbeing looking as expected?
- Where is my placenta lying?
- When would you suggest scanning again?
Good to know. A wellbeing scan complements, but doesn't replace, your NHS 20-week anomaly scan.
